We all have the best intentions to "eat right" but something gets in the way. For some, it is lack of knowledge of how to shop for healthful foods. For others it is a perceived lack of time and dependence on less healthful convenience products that prevents them from embracing better eating. For many, it is making healthful foods taste good (just as good as those prepared foods or take out) that limits their desire to want to eat healthfully. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics offers these tips for boosting both the taste and nutrition of your meals...a "plate lift"

It sounds simple enough- eat when you are hungry. Yet most of us don't know how to eat at the right time and we struggle to distinguish physical hunger from emotional hunger. I strongly believe that learning what it means to be truly, physically hungry and how to stop when you are just full enough, is an essential part of healthy living and critical to reaching and maintaining healthy weight.
At the heart of
the many ways I work with nutrition, however, is a simple philosophy
about our relationship with food. The starting point for the many
“spokes” of my work is a belief that we all have the power to reach
our nutrition goals when we are given the right tools. I believe in
balance, no gimmicks, no games and keeping it simple. Whether I am demystifying nutrition for a consumer or giving a client the tools to
achieve her wellness goals, I teach people how to make positive,
lasting change because I believe they can.
